Time travel to Vice City in the middle of 2022 by downloading GTA and helping Tommy Vercetti become acclimated again.

The GTA series – Grand Theft Auto – was one of the few that changed the video game industry. For many, playing GTA is a way to connect with others through similar interests. The brand’s games remain popular today and have even transcended platforms since their original releases. A great example of this is GTA Vice City which people continue to play obsessively despite it being released in 2002.

The Vice City installment was the first in the GTA saga to be considered a spin-off. The game is named after the city in’s set instead of being numbered like in previous installments (I, II, and III). Although this video game came out almost 20 years ago, it continues to gain fans even now–nearly two decades later.

The GTA Vice City Plot

Vice City, the game’s setting, is based in Miami, Florida in the 1980s. The city was famous for its links to drugs and gangs, power struggles between criminal organizations, and mafia ties. The creators took inspiration from these real-world problems and two films set in the same time period: Miami Vice and Scarface.

The third-person adventure and action video game, GTA Vice City, features the main character Tommy Vercetti who can explore the in-game city by foot or car. The city is divided into two maps for player convenience. This was also the first installment in the GTA saga to allow protagonists to ride motorcycles– a feature that caught many gamers’ attention and kept them glued to their screens.

The design of the open world is one of the fans’ favorite features. The freedom to move around an unexplored map, using the means of locomotion that pleases the player most, and having the ability to complete several missions simultaneously was a successful formula that creators would later replicate in following versions of GTA.

There was controversy surrounding the game at its release because it touched on taboo subjects such as gang violence and explicit language. Some people loved the game for its unflinching portrayal of reality, while others found it distasteful. It’s important to note that in 2002, GTA Vice City sold over 17.5 million copies – a record number that has yet to be broken.

GTA Vice City – Android Version

You can celebrate 10 years of GTA’s success by purchasing the Vice City version for Android. In 2012, android device users were able to access Tommy Vercetti’s life in the video game. 20 years of GTA Vice City

How did we achieve two decades of success?

The soundtrack

There are many reasons the video game GTA Vice City has remained successful for so long, but one of them is undoubtedly the original soundtrack. The game features 8000 lines of dialogue, which is four times more than its predecessor, GTA III. It also boasts more than nine hours of music spread across 113 songs and fictitious commercials. These days, you can even buy albums featuring songs used in video games.

The Scenario

If you’re a fan of the movie Scarface, with Al Pacino in the lead role as Tony Montana, you’ll quickly notice immense similarities between Tony’s mansion and that of the protagonist in Vice City. In fact, the game’s Tommy Vercetti modeled his home after Tony’s. Furthermore, both protagonists follow a very similar trajectory to becoming leaders in their drug trafficking worlds.

The Characters

The characters in GTA Vice City are always keeping players on their toes, with Tommy Vercetti, Ricardo Diaz, Lance Vance, and Ken Rosenberg being some of the most vibrant. They bring an element of fun to the game that keeps gamers coming back for more.

A Nostalgia

The phrase “the real gamer” is subjective, but for the sake of this article, let’s explore what it means to be a “real gamer.” Real gamers know that there’s nothing like reliving old successes while playing video games. The nostalgia in Vice City is central to its appeal–driving through the city with the radio on as Tommy kills another victim in retaliation for a failed drug deal feels so authentic and real. That level of detail is really what sets this game apart from others.

Awards and Recognition

On the day of its release in 2002, GTA Vice City sold over half a million copies in 24 hours and collected many prizes throughout the years. In just two days after its release, it amassed 1.4 million sales- becoming the video game with the fastest sales rate ever recorded at that point succeeded by later releases. By 2006, it had 7 million copies sold which generated 300+ million dollars in revenue only within The United States.

Vice City won multiple awards, including the British Games Awards, Golden Joystick Awards, Entertainment Weekly, IGN, and GameSpot. The game’s soundtrack also received acclaim by winning the British Academy Games Award for best song and being nominated for another GameSpot award.

In addition to those accomplishments, Vice City was awarded Best Design by the British Academy Games Awards and nominated for Best Graphics (technical and artistic) by GameSpot.

Though Android versions are hardly ever included in these types of award ceremonies, we know that both the graphics and other features of GTA Vice City have been greatly improved since the video game won numerous prestigious prizes.

GTA Vice City is more than just a game–it’s a piece of history. The Android anniversary version of the game is an opportunity to enjoy something that will be remembered for years to come. It’s not just about playing the game but understanding the impact that it has had on the gaming industry as a whole. This is definitely a title that anyone who enjoys video games should play at least once in their life.
